02 · Why We Are Here

The Initiative

At the direction of our Chairman, the Kirby team has developed a new strategy for the next fifty years: to build greater inroads with the world’s best manufacturing partners, and to grow the business more strategically and more directionally than at any point in our history. THE NEXT 50 is where that strategy moves from agreements to joint execution.

This conference presents the innovation and total revamping of our factories to our employees, with the five partners who are building it alongside us in the room. It follows a series of very successful meetings across the partner group and marks the point where the transformation program becomes joint work: the path from 500,000 to 1,000,000 tons per year by 2030, built on automation, the digital thread and the new Sudair smart factory.

Day one is ours alone. For the first time in Kirby’s history, the people who run Kirby and the people building its future technology are together in one place for a week, and the Kirby family hears the story first: eight talks, one story, from the global picture to the machines.

From Tuesday the conference splits into two working sections for the specialists who will run these tools. Section 1, Group A — Engineering: the digital thread from estimation to fabrication; the Trimble proof-of-concept series, and the Kirby Estimation Module (KEM) working session with Cylix. Section 2, Group B — Manufacturing: the smart factory; HGTech automation and machine integration, cranes and material handling with Henan Mine Crane, the new paint lines with Antai, and the digital twin with Cylix and HGTech.

Thursday everything converges: the partner teams work the integration blueprints together in the morning, management leads strategic breakout sessions in the afternoon, and the conference closes with the milestone register, announced and signed with every partner.

Day 1 · Monday

Belief

A broad, cross-plant audience hears where Kirby is going, and why the people in the room will build it.

Days 2–3 · Tuesday & Wednesday

Working Knowledge

Two parallel sections put the specialists hands-on with the tools, one level deeper than the story.

Day 4 · Thursday

Commitments

Integration blueprints agreed and strategy set, then the milestone register signed with all five partners.

I have asked the Kirby team to take what fifty years built and make it the foundation of something larger: a business that grows with greater purpose, more strategically and more directionally, with the best partners in the world beside it.

Kutayba Y. Alghanim
Chairman

Fifty years ago, Kirby began with one bold decision. On 10 August we stand in front of our people and our partners and make the next one. Kirby will double, and the people in this room will build it.

Waleed K. Alghanim
Chief Executive Officer, Kirby Building Systems

Five companies, each the best at what it does, each already at work with Kirby. Their delegations join from Tuesday morning; on Thursday afternoon each signs its milestone in the register.

The Digital Thread

Trimble Tekla

The digital-thread keynote and the full workshop track: Tekla PowerFab from estimation to fabrication, the design, detailing and nesting proof-of-concept series, and the joint integration day. A five-person delegation led by Mick Hodgson, Technical Manager, Tekla UK.

SessionsTuesday and Wednesday, both sections · Thursday joint day
The Smart Factory

HGTech

Agreement signed: HGTech is designing Kirby’s new Smart Factory as modules. The automation landscape and machine integration sessions, automation validation, the digital twin with Cylix, and the joint integration day with the Tekla team.

SessionsTuesday and Wednesday (Section 2) · Thursday joint day
Artificial Intelligence

Cylix

Engaged to build the Kirby Estimation Module (KEM), our AI estimation system: inquiry in, quotation out, built on Kirby’s own engineering knowledge. On Wednesday: the KEM working session with engineering and estimation, and “The Factory That Exists Twice,” the digital twin session with HGTech.
